How Can I Train to be a CASA Volunteer?
We understand that many people who want to help have busy schedules. While a CASA is required to complete 30 hours of pre-service training, we want to make that process as flexible as possible. We offer two training options for interested volunteers.
Traditional Classroom Training
This training option is currently offered annually at the CASA office in Helena. The schedule varies from year to year, but always features community experts on the topics that CASAs will face in their important work. The sessions take place two evenings a week for four weeks. For an idea of what to expect, the 2011 training agenda is available here.
Independent Study
For those who want to train in the interim between our annual trainings, or whose evenings are busy with other activities, the independent study option offers more flexibility. Through reading assignments, online videos, and several short in-person review meetings, the 30 hours of required training are easy to complete. For more information on this option, please see our Independent Study Pre-Service Training page.
