In-Service Independent Study

CASAs are required to complete 12 hours of in-service training per year. While many group trainings are offered through the CASA program, the following is a list of options for independent study which allow volunteers earn the necessary training hours. All form submissions and questions can be directed to

National CASA Webinars

National CASA webinars are offered at various times throughout the year. CASAs will be notified of upcoming topics which are available for in-service credit. CASAs must pre-register for these webinars through the CASA office. In order to receive credit (which varies depending on the webinar), volunteers must complete and submit this form.

 

National CASA Podcasts

Podcasts are offered through National CASA regularly throughout the year. Visit the website for a current list of podcasts available for in-service credit. Upon completion and submission of this form, CASAs will receive one credit hour.

 

Book Review

CASAs may read a book of their choice which relates to CASA work in some capacity. A list of recommendations is available here, or you can check out the National CASA recommendations here. but it is by no means comprehensive. If you are unsure if a title is acceptable for in-service credit, please contact the CASA office to check. Once you have read the book, complete and submit this form to receive four hours of in-service credit.

 

Online Training Modules

  • Arizona CASA offers a wide variety of online training modules that take either 30 minutes or one hour to complete. Complete the quiz at the end of the lesson. After submitting an exam, you will receive a confirmation email within 5 business days that includes a copy of the exam for your records. If you would like to receive credit for completing the course, forward your exam results to CASA. You will receive credit based on which module you complete (30 minutes or one hour).
  • The Child Trauma Academy offers online training modules addressing brain development, the impact of trauma, secondary traumatic stress, and attachment disorders in maltreated children. Each topic is divided into multiple lessons with an accompanying assignment. Each lesson and assignment completed will earn one hour of in-service credit. Simply print or email your assignment responses to the CASA office for credit.
