CASA Honors Local Community Service Leaders

On July 22, CASA-Advocates for Kids hosted its annual Community Service Awards in the rotunda of the Capitol building. This year's recipients were Bryant Elementary School Principal Russ Van Hook and CASA Volunteer Garry Rafter. Both awardees were honored for their selfless demonstrations of service to children in our community.

CASA Director Bill Collins introduced Lewis and Clark County District Court Judge Jeffrey Sherlock who presented Van Hook and Rafter with plaques after a brief speech honoring each awardee. Many CASA volunteers, board members, and staff were in attendance, as well as co-workers and family members of Van Hook and Rafter. Former Deputy County Attorney Carolyn Clemens and current Deputy County Attorney Tara Harris were both present to honor the guests.

Recipients of the CASA Community Service Award are selected by Bill Collins and the awards ceremony has historically been held in July.
