Donated Quilts Comfort CASA Children

CASA Quilt
Barbara Anthony (left) shows off one of the many quilts she recently donated to CASA-Advocates for Kids. Pam Young, CASA Office Manager, helps display the quilt.

August 20 - As she did last year, Barbara Anthony gifted CASA again with an ample stock of colorful and exquisitely fashioned quilts of her own design and labor.  The quilts have been a big hit with the children we serve.  So many of these children have been afforded few comforts in life and frequently bring few possessions to their foster care placements.  We thank Barbara for her thoughtfulness, generosity and the many, many hours she donated to this project.

Golfers Help Support CASA

August 12 - The 9th "Quasi-Annual" Doney Law Firm Charity Golf Tournament took place Friday, August 8th at Fox Ridge Golf Course and it was a great success. CASA - Advocates for Kids received a $1,000 donation to help the program continue to train and support its dedicated volunteer court-appointed special advocates. These volunteers are appointed by judges to advocate for abused and neglected children in the First Judicial District. Thank you so much to the generous sponsors and organizers of the event, and thank you golfers!

CASA-Advocates for Kids Kicks off Mentoring Program

June 20 - CASA-Advocates for Kids launched its new volunteer mentoring program last week. Inspired by similar programs in Kalispell, Great Falls, and Missoula, the Helena mentoring program will match experienced volunteers with new volunteers, helping those who are new to the CASA role gain a better understanding of their responsibilities. It is designed to provide new volunteers with extra support to develop their skills and confidence.  Mentoring improves the skills of new volunteers through communication with an experienced CASA volunteer. The CASA – Advocates for Kids mentoring program aims to provide increased guidance, supervision and insight for all new volunteers. The initial training sessions were a success, with a great turn-out of volunteers interested in mentoring. CASA mentors offer their time to take on additional case responsibilities as they help guide new volunteers through the process. Thank you so much to the dedicated individuals who are helping CASA increase the quality of oversight and training provided to our volunteers!
